50% deposit with balance due on completion. Some installations are over several days so we invoice on commencement of work.
Please read these notes in conjunction with your quotation as we want to make the installation of your flooring as easy as possible.
Unless specifically stated on your quotation fitting does NOT include uplifting of old floorcoverings and removal. Fitting does NOT include moving furniture and appliances. If we have quoted for removing furniture the price is for moving the main items and does not include emptying cupboards, wardrobes and bookcases etc.
Sometimes when we try to nail into concrete floors the floor won't accept the specialy hardened nails. Also some types of floors have to have the grippers stuck. We try to foresee this problem but sometimes it is not possible and a charge will be made for this work.
Should doors require adjustment to accommodate your new flooring we can carry this out at a cost of £15.00 per door. Fitters will normally undertake standard painted doors but solid oak/veneered and glazed doors we recommend you use a carpenter.
Wood is a natural product and each plank and piece will be different, the grain and its differing degreesof tightness does affect the colour intensity. Some wood will have amounts of lighter wood in the planks( sap wood) For example the sample board you have chosen from will be different to the actual woodyou receive there are no two planks the same ! Wood is wood natural and individual.
Depending on the flooring you actually choose we install in different ways. Wood floors are sometimesglued down, some floated. Karndean and LVT is also fully adhered to the prepared subfloor. Concretefloors are usually ‘screeded and wood floors ‘plyboarded’. As you can imagine this floor preparation istime consuming and with the screed needs time to dry. It is helpful if our installers can have easy accessas they may be, for example screeding your kitchen in the morning and fitting someone else’s in theafternoon So please access is important to be flexible time wise.
It is the customer’s responsibility to notify the fitter of any pipes and cables that could be damaged during fitting (our gripper nails are not long enough to go right through a floor board).
We do try to minimise damage to decoration but it is sometimes difficult to manoeuvre large carpets into the designated area for fitting due to the sheer size of the roll. Also new paintwork needs to be hardened before fitting as damage can occur more easily (5-7 days is recommended) Please speak to us if you are concerned.
The fitters are instructed to tidy up and vacuum up after installing your floor. We do not normally remove the larger off cuts. We can arrange for offcuts to be edged at £4 per linear metre, please bring them into the shop.
We usually remove empty boxes and offcuts and leave the areas clean and tidy
Carpets do shade from use and this is normal and not a fault. The majority of manufacturers do not guarantee a colour match between 4m and 5m widths. Also the sample you choose from is not an exact match to the carpet you will receive.
The fitting of these floors often takes longer than a day. Floor preparation can sometimes require extra visits. Screeding floors (dependant on size) take up a small amount of time in relation to the actual laying of the floor. It helps our installers if they can have reasonably flexible access as they sometimes need to carry out floor preparations and installations on the same day.
PLEASE NOTE WE DO NOT ACCEPT MANDATES. SOME INSURANCE ESTIMATES DO NOT QUALIFY FOR SPECIAL OFFERS, PLEASE CLARIFY WHEN AND HOW YOUR INSURANCE COMPANY WILL SETTLE AS WE REQUIRE SETTLEMENT AS STATED ABOVE, IT IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY TO MAKE SURE WE RECEIVE SETTLEMENT ON COMPLETION.
Whilst every effort is made to deliver and fit to the customers satisfaction all promises are approximate only, and to deliver on the stated date and time shall not render us liable for lost time and consequential costs. (We really do try and deliver and fit on time but we have a large team and it is impossible to foresee sickness etc. Installations can vary in size and difficulty so it is not easy to be specific on a time other than '1st job o. the day’ which usually means between 9-10am. Now you have read the notes we hope it has clarified most common aspects of installation, but please do speak with the person you have been dealing with, with any concerns you may have? We want you to be happy with the completed floor and understand what is required for this to be achieved.
This does not include removing furniture and effects or removing the old floor coverings. Please check your estimate if you have asked us to carry out any of these tasks.
If we have undertaken to move your furniture please note the following:
We will move: major items of furniture BUT wardrobes and drawers need to be empty as they can make furniture too heavy to lift. Book shelves need to be cleared, all small items off shelves and window sills need to be removed. Floor coverings can be bulky and difficult to manoeuvre and we don’t want to cause unnecessary damage.
We don’t move: valuable antiques for example Grandfather Clocks, this is your responsibility.
We don’t move: TV’s Computers and Hi Fi equipment, they are complicated and sometimes difficult to re connect.
We try to foresee this problem but it isn’t always obvious that we may have a problem nailing into the floor. If we have to stick the grippers there will be an additional charge. Please make our installer aware of any hidden pipes or cables.
We do try to minimise damage to decoration, but it is sometimes difficult to manoeuvre large carpets into the designated area for installation. Also new paintwork needs to be thoroughly dry and hardened (5-7 days is recommended) The backing of carpets tends to be slightly rough this can slightly scuff some finishes particularly ‘eggshell finish’. Please speak to us so we can clarify the situation for you.
Should doors require adjustment to accommodate your new floor we can carry this out at a cost of £25.00 per door. Our installers will normally cut standard painted doors but solid/veneered and glazed doors we recommend you employing a carpenter.
The fitters are instructed to tidy up and vacuum after installing your floor. Large offcuts are normally left with you. We have an edging service if required please enquire the current price per metre.
We usually remove empty boxes and offcuts and leave the areas clean and tidy
Carpets do shade from use, this is normal and not a fault. If you have read our advice on buying your carpet you will understand the differences the type of pile makes to this.
Most manufacturers DO NOT guarantee a colour match between 4 and 5m widths, also the sample you are choosing from will be from a different batch and very slightly different.
Whilst every effort is made to deliver and fit to arranged days and times all promises and statements are approximate only, and to deliver or fit on the stated date and time shall not render us liable for lost time and consequential costs.
We really do try to be on time but we are a large team and it is impossible to foresee sickness etc. Installations are rarely the same so it is not easy to be specific on arrival times. First job of the day is usually 9-10am
Now you have read our terms and conditions and notes we hope we have clarified most common aspects of installation, but please speak to the person you are dealing with on any concerns you may have. We want you to be happy with your carpet and understand what is required for this is to be achieved.
